The Early Playstation Logo Designs

These days, most of you already know the history behind how the Playstation came to be. In the beginning it was actually supposed to be a CD-rom add-on for the SNES. But Nintendo scrapped that idea and decided to develop the hardware with another company. Not to be outdone  Sony continued to work on the project themselves. Fast forward to today and Sony is just as synonymous with video games as Nintendo.

Over the years many images of the Nintendo Playstation prototype have surfaced; like these ones with game-rave.com watermarks. But today I came across this diagram of the early versions of the famous Playstation logo.
You can see that in most of these early logos, the designers continued to use the staple "PS" and the three subtractive primary colors. It was only in the last logo that they started using green as a fourth and additive primary color. In a few of the designs they also tried to integrate the ellipses found in the SNES logo

Ah, the 1990s... Good times.
