The Early Playstation Logo Designs

These days, most of you already know the history behind how the Playstation came to be. In the beginning it was actually supposed to be a CD-rom add-on for the SNES. But Nintendo scrapped that idea and decided to develop the hardware with another company. Not to be outdone  Sony continued to work on the project themselves. Fast forward to today and Sony is just as synonymous with video games as Nintendo.

Over the years many images of the Nintendo Playstation prototype have surfaced; like these ones with game-rave.com watermarks. But today I came across this diagram of the early versions of the famous Playstation logo.
You can see that in most of these early logos, the designers continued to use the staple "PS" and the three subtractive primary colors. It was only in the last logo that they started using green as a fourth and additive primary color. In a few of the designs they also tried to integrate the ellipses found in the SNES logo

Ah, the 1990s... Good times.

Iron Man Rise of Technovore

I really wanted to like Iron Man Rise of Technovore. I really did! I mean, it does almost everything right. The fanboy in me loves to see iconic characters like The Punisher animated by Studio Madhouse. You know Studio Madhouse right? The guys behind Black Lagoon or Helsing Ultimate. But sadly the movie falls really short in so many places that made it really hard to fully enjoy it in my opinion.

As I said, the animation is great and it's great to see all of your favorite marvel characters in glorious HD animation. But that doesn't it save it from subpar voice acting and a kind of badly paced story. So let's talk about the voice acting first. Most of the voices sound kind of forced and which really pulls you out of some of the movie's dramatic scenes. But a special mention has to go to Norman Reedus of The Walking Dead fame, who does the voice for The Punisher. Why? Because he totally steals the show!

Another thing is that the movie likes to take sudden long pauses in the action for pure exposition or random poetic dribble by the main villain of the movie. Not that exposition is always bad, but when the movie begins with a bunch of thrilling action and than takes a stop so hard that it feels like you got hit by a truck full of exposition there is something wrong. Another problem is also that the movie expects that the viewer has read the Iron Man comic before watching this, or some of the plot points will fly right past your head.

All is all I would recommend this movie if you are a fan or Iron Man or a fan of the animation of Studio Madhouse. The movie has kind of a rough start and many problems but gets better as it goes along, with a great third act.

Back in the Saddle

Finally, I finally got my blog back from godaddy. Apparently there had been some kind of problem with their servers and my domain name had disappeared from google's servers. I've lost all the posts I made and all the stats from the old version of the site, but now worries! Because now I am back with a vengeance and there will be more posts than before and everything will be well again!

I tried to create a new blog while I thought that this blog was lost in the ether of the world wide web, but it just wasn't the same. That .blogspot part of the domain looked really ugly, the site had no SEO and it felt generally unfamiliar.

But that matters no more. Because here I am with my old site back, Macross Plus is still my favorite mecha anime and I still think that I should post more than i did on the old site! Anyways, I'll see you guys on the next real post on the new thegrayghost.net!
